POPCORN INFORMATION!!

Why do we sell popcorn?
  • Scouts isn't free! It costs our pack approximately $100 per scout per year to provide a quality program for your children.  Selling popcorn gives you an opportunity to participate in scouts without paying the $100 out of your pocket. This $100 takes care of all rank badges, Sports and Academic belt loops and pins, Webelos activity badges, and various awards like World Conservation, Summertime Activity, and Outdoor Activity awards. This also funds our Pinewood Derby, Blue and Gold Banquet, Graduation Ceremony, summer activities, and needs for our monthly pack meetings. This is also used to cover the BSA registration costs and Boy's Life magazine for all scouts and leaders. This is our only fundraiser to financially support your scouts and our pack. We would like to ask for your support in this year's sell. We had a tremendous sale last year, coming in at around $17,000 and receiving the award for the highest selling pack in our district!! I hope that we can continue this success this year and in coming years. But we can't do it alone! We need YOUR help! 
  • Our pack receives 36% of the total sales (2% of this goes back to the scout in place of the Trail’s End prize program).  The council receives approximately 36% as well which is used locally to help our community and all of the packs in
    our district!

How can you make your $300 goal?
  • You can sell popcorn using the take order form provided by going to family, friends, and neighbors asking them to buy popcorn.  Please collect their money at this time. These orders will be ready for you to pick up at the Water Rocket launch in November.   
  • Sign up for Show-n-Sell!  These are scheduled sales where we have a table outside of a retail store and sell to the shoppers coming in and out.  The time you commit to selling turns into money toward your individual goals. When all Show-n-Sell's are complete, we calculate a Sales per Scout hour amount.  Each scout will earn credit for their time spent.  For instance, if we sell $1000 at Show-n-Sells, and we had a total of 100 hours worked by all scouts combined.   The price per hour becomes $1000 divided by 100 = $10 per hour.  If your scout worked 10 of those hours, he will earn $100 credit toward his $300 goal.

What's in it for the scout?
  • If you meet your $300 sales goal, 100% of your pack dues are paid for!
  • If you meet your $300 sales goal, you will receive a Wal-mart giftcard in the amount of 2% of your total sales.
  • If you are the highest seller in the entire pack, you will receive a $25 giftcard to Wal-mart!
  • If you are the highest seller in your den (excludes highest pack winner) you will receive a $10 giftcard to Regal Cinemas.
  • If your den has the highest percentage of scouts who met their $300 goal, your den will receive a pizza or ice cream party at one of your November den meetings.
  • Clemson Day with the Coaches! If you fill up a take order form, your family will be invited to Clemson University next Spring to meet with the coaches and players of various sports offered by the Clemson Athletic Department. We will let you use the Show-n-sell credits to help pay your dues and reach our pack goals, however, the Clemson day incentive will have to be earned on your own by doing "take-orders". Take-orders are those sales you make with friends, neighbors, and family. Each order form has 30 lines. Filling in at least one item per line will guarantee your spot at Clemson, and even if you only sell the lowest cost item, you will be very very close to your $300 pack goal! You will also receive a nice Clemson hat which last year the scouts took around and had them autographed by different players. There were players from football, baseball, volleyball, rowing, tennis, golf and more. Plus they toured the locker rooms, the football field and more! Filling up two order forms will get your Mom or Dad a hat too!
  • From Saturday September 22nd to Friday September 28th, every youth who sells $200 worth of popcorn that week will receive a free Emergency Medical Pack from the Blue Ridge Council.
  • All scouts who participate will get the Popcorn patch from Trails End.

Another incentive to sell!!  We have some additional goal levels for those who go beyond the $300 in sales. Last year we had 3 scouts break $1000!!
  • $300 - Dues Paid
  • $500 - Cub Scout Day Camp Registration Paid
  • $550 - Cub Scout Day Camp Registration OR Cub Scout Resident Camp Paid
  • $550 - Cub Scout Day Camp Registration OR Webelos* Resident Camp Paid
  • $700 - Cub Scout Day Camp Registration AND Cub Scout Resident Camp Paid
  • $750 - Cub Scout Day Camp Registration AND Webelos* Resident Camp Paid
  • $800 - Senior Webelos receive $150 toward the coming summer's Boy Scout Resident Camp 
  • $875 - Cub Scout Day Camp Registration AND Cub Scout Resident Camp Paid
    for Scout and Adult
  • $950 - Cub Scout Day Camp Registration AND Webelos* Resident Camp Paid
    for Scout and Adult
  • $1000 - Cub Scout Day Camp Registration, Resident Camp Registration for
    Scout and Adult, AND $20 Giftcard to Walmart!

*Webelos Resident Camp is an extra day longer than Cub Resident Camp, therefore
costs more for registration.
 
The sale starts Aug. 31 and ends Oct. 24th! Brandi must have your order and payment on or before this date to submit it to the scout office. We have a PLM on Oct 23rd. You are welcome to drop the orders off with your den leader or at your den meeting previous to this meeting so your leader can bring to the PLM, or you may stop by the PLM to turn it in.
 
Trail's End also offers the following prizes:
•        Scouts reaching the $1000 sales mark will get a custom $1000 club t-shirt with their name on it!
•        $1500 in sales gets you a $50 gift card
•        $2500 qualifies for the Trail's End college scholarship.  6% of sales are put into an interest-bearing college account for the scout, and subsequent years only require $1500 to qualify.
